The tour covered all the important areas of Barelona and especial visits to Sagrada Familia which is Antoni Gaudi;s Basilica. A most amazing building.
Then onto a walking tour of Barcelona and we were shown buildings the romans built and which are still standing.
Today is Catalonia, or Barcelona's independence day, well actually it was the spanish conquering the Catalonians on 11th September 1714. There were a lot of people in the streets with yellow and red striped flags, It was a public holiday so all shops were closed.
We had lunch at a small restaurant by Barcelona's Church and there were 100's of people filing through the doors. ( picture 2 pizza our medium size, 2 glasses of wine, 4 beers and a coffee and tea..total cost 45 euros about $70)
Then off to Park Guell another Gaudi project and also to Casa Mila or as the locals call it La Pedrera. Another amazing Gaudi building. He was certainly an architect way ahead of his time.
Sitting writng this blog on our balcony, sun blazing, its 7:15 pm and we are about to go and get savour more tapas. The tapas in this area is around 1-1.7 euro elsewhere it can be from 1;7 - 4 euro so we are certainly in a local area.
