The P day

Up early for a train trip to Napoli leaving at 7:35am. A very fast train. New train record of 297 km/h

On arrival at Napoli our driver informed us that the road to Positano was closed as a car had caught fire and started a bush fire. This meant a longer trip to Positano. Anyway, off to Pompeii to meet our guide, who looked very much like a neice of ours.

Walked and talked around Pompeii for 2 hours,

In a sauna room

The kitchen of  a Pompeii house

Then  back to the driver and no good news had to go long way to Positano, a 2 hour drive.
At least it was very picturesque.

Arrived at Positano at 1:45 and had around 2 hours, Not really happy with the driver as we had a 2 hour trip back to Naples and he wanted to leave at 3:30. That meant a 2 hour wait at Naples Centrale station,
Anyway we enjoyed a lovely lunched at the driver's son's restaurant .

Then a very quick walk around Positano. Not even enough time for an ice cream. But Aileen and Lyndsay saw the beautiful coastline and Positano in brillant sunshine. At least there weren't too many tourists as most couldn't get through. 4 out of the 5 roads into Positano were closed.

A bit of a hair raising trip back to Napoli through some very narrow streets of the villages that line the coast and then arriving at Napoli around 5 :30.
Ordering a gelati has never been met with such rudeness from the assistants. They were only matched by the girl this morning who couldn't understand our English and let us know.
Tomorrow sees the girls venturing off for their shopping fix at Castel Romano clothing outlet,
The boys will just be roaming around or should we say Rome-ing around.
