Our reports from Lipari will be short due to an internet problem. Michael is creating the blog posts on the rooftop of the units, with a great view.
Our trip from Rome to Lipari via Catania (jet) Milazzo( private taxi) and Lipari (ferry) went smoothly. However a change in the weather meant a bouncy trip to the island.
On arrival met Bernard(owner of the units and lives in Melbourne) who had found Michael's relatives at the cemetry. Quick photo then he quickly showed us the ropes and places to eat.
Bought a couple of pizza's some local wine and beer and an early night.
Up and left the unit at 9am and went straight to the cemetry where the hunt was on. Colene found a great aunt and a photo sent off to Christine Buck for verification. It was better than the one she had. Also found out that a great aunt had been married twice. Other possible relatives headstones photographed for later verification.
Then off to city hall where Michael was able to get some assistance in locating the Barca's great grandparents death notice. Hopefully they can find them and email them.
Off to lunch for a beautiful meal. Plenty of local seafood and the prices keep going down.
A siesta for an hour then some light refreshments before heading off to a restaurant for dinner. Restaurants don't open until 8pm and close around midnight.
The weather is a bit unpredictable, however at the moment it is great.
Sorry photos will be posted once internet is better..
Wow we would be in trouble with if they don't open until 8pm. Look forward to seeing some pics love and miss you guys Xxxx
